Sorry it's been so long since we last updated you on our adventure in missions. We have had some fun things happen to us in the past few weeks. We were able to go to Lighthouse Baptist Church in Antigo, WI on March 6. This is the first time I have ever preached/taught three times in one day. Needless to say, that is exhausting. I'm not sure how our pastors do it. We had a great time and were able to meet many people who were excited about missions. We stayed with the pastor who told us that the church building and parsonage were both built in the early 1900's. We had a great time exploring the old buildings and were excited about the new life that Lighthouse brought to these ancient halls.
Last week I (Joey) was able to substitute teach at North Love Christian School. I've decided that I don't miss teaching one bit, but I do miss being with the teens every day. We had a great time together and even learned a few things while we were at it. This is the reason that i wasn't able to update last week as most of my work was done in my "free hour" in the morning.
This week we are driving back and forth to Union Grove, WI for a missions conference at Union Grove Baptist Church. This is exciting for several reasons. 1) Missions conferences are the highlight of any missionary's calendar. This missions conference has proved to be no exception. We've been transported to Germany, Japan, Haiti, Jamaica, Egypt, and Jordan in the course of two days. Tonight I will have an opportunity to present our work in New York City and Wednesday night I will have the opportunity to preach. 2) Union Grove, Wisconsin is where Shepherd's Ministries is. My grandmother, who is now with the Lord, spend many summers at Shepherd's home. This is a unique ministry that helps mentally disabled people get the most out of their life. They have done a great job with their residents and have helped to maximize the potential of each resident. We are excited to tour the facility tomorrow. If you are curious about Shepherd's, check out shepherdsministries.org. 3) Last but not least, this missions conference starts the busiest part of deputation we've had yet. In the next four weeks we are going to be able to be in four states, participating in four missions conferences, five regular Sunday meetings, and also an Illinois Baptist Church association conference. The highlight of our Spring conference "season" will be our home church's missions conference March 27-30. We will do our best to keep you updated on what is happening as we go. Thank you again for your prayers and support. We could not do this without the Holy Spirit enabling us, as well as your prayers and support upholding us.
